Our services
Coastlink provides services to younger people with disabilities, ageing carers, the frail aged and their carers.
The services we provide include:
Respite
Respite for Younger People with Disabilities (under 65 years old) living with a Carer
Respite is provided so that carers can get a break from their caring responsibilities. We provide respite for younger people with disabilities in-home, in a host family, in a centre and in the community.
Respite can be 1:1 if required or in small groups. 1 client to 1 worker support is provided to those
people who are unable to be cared for in small groups.
Service can vary from a few hours weekly or fortnightly or overnight or longer monthly or quarterly.
We provide age appropriate activities for younger people with disabilities on weekends so they have
a great time with their friends while family members get a break.
Respite for People who are Frail Aged living with a Carer
Respite is usually provided in the home of the person who is frail aged and can include short trips to
the shops, having a haircut or going to the bank. Respite can be provided to people who are experiencing
memory loss or are confused.
Usually around 3 hours a week is provided so the carer can engage in social activities of their own during
that time.
Centre Based Respite for people who are Frail Aged living with a Carer
Operating 3 days a week we provide centre based activities for people aged 65 and over who live at home and who need a carer.
Enjoy home cooked meal with others the same age as you are and enjoy the company of others. We also go out in a bus around the local area so you can talk with others on the bus and enjoy getting out and about.
If you know someone who is socially isolated this may be the program for them!!

Community Participation (CP) Program
This program is for eligible clients who have left, or are about to leave school. Support is provided on weekdays to eligible clients. 20-40% of the program is based around skill development and learning. Clients engage in community based recreational, cultural and sporting activities.
Coastlink operates both the Individual Based Community Access CP program and the Centre Based Community Access CP program and all clients spend most of their time in the community doing volunteer work or undertaking other skill based learning as well and fun activities, like swimming and fitness.
As this is an educational program eligible people can apply to Centrelink for the mobility allowance and can use this to access Coastlink transport from their homes to the program and back again.

We provide transport for many activities on the Peer Support program, sometimes picking up from home and dropping home at other times using a pick up-drop off point.
Small group activities also available on some weekdays and evenings. Monthly calendars sent to all eligible clients.
Re-Assessment Policy
Because our respite services are allocated on the basis of need we reassess all respite allocations at regular intervals. This allows us to be aware of any changes in your circumstances and ensures that we deliver a flexible and innovative respite service, which is constantly focussed on your needs.
