We’re writing to let you know that the Minister for NDIS, Stuart Robert, has announced more flexibility and choice for anyone accessing transport funding in their plans.
This means from 2 March 2020, participants will be able to use their core funding to pay for some transport costs including kilometre charges. This will make it much easier to claim some costs incurred when transporting participants to and from their community activities funded in your NDIS plans.
We welcome this change and recognise it as a positive step to ensuring all our clients can use their NDIS funding the way they want, to support the life they choose.
These changes have been introduced in response to feedback from both NDIS participants and providers calling for a fair and consistent solution to claiming non-labour transport costs.
The previous ban on using core funding for transport prevented many people from accessing the supports they want and need, so this change will enable participants to access the support they require and more community activities.
This is great news for Coastlink clients and we will be sending out an amended Pricing Guide with these changes as soon as we receive them.
